President's Messages

Welcome to the wonderful month of April and another wonderful month of PEER.  Our meeting will be held on Monday, April 21. The program this month focuses on Nutrition and Diet and will be presented by Ann Jackisch.  Breakfast begins at 9:30 followed by our meeting at 10:00. 

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  I hope you have a healthy, happy year and that 2008 will be a wonderful year for you.

Our January meeting will be held on January 28. Please note that this is the 4^th Monday of the month due to the observation of Martin Luther King's birthday on our regular meeting day. The PCTA Office will be closed on that day. Our breakfast and socializing will begin at 9:30 and be followed by our meeting at 10:00.  Dr. Clayton Wilcox, Superintendent of the Pinellas County Schools, is the scheduled speaker.

The PEER Holiday Social is right around the corner, and you don’t want to miss it!! Ada Raynal will be our hostess for this wonderful luncheon.  Our potluck luncheon will be held on Monday, December 17, at 10:00.  Ada will prepare a meat dish and will provide beverages, plates, and utensils.  The rest is up to us! Plan on bringing your favorite dish to the luncheon!! You will find that our PEER cooks are terrific; the food is always delicious and the company is even better.

The month of November brings a continuation of a busy year for PEER.  Our regular meeting will be held on Monday, November 19, at the PCTA Office.  At the meeting:

If you did not attend our September PEER meeting, you missed a wonderful program and luncheon.  Our guest speaker was Jade Moore who gave us an insight into what is happening with education, how it is affecting students and how it will affect us as retirees..  The regular meeting was followed by our paid-up membership luncheon sponsored by the membership grant we received from AFT. Thanks to Dave Byers and his committee who planned the luncheon and helped set-up and clean-up.  We couldn’t have done it without you!!

Welcome back to another year of PEER!  PEER, Pinellas Education Employees-Retired, is the only local retired educator association that is affiliated with PCTA/PESPA, NEA, FEA, and AFT.  PEER has a lot to offer including:

• Monthly meetings with interesting speakers and programs
• Community and service involvement
• Scholarship sponsorship
• Social Activities
• Collecting items for the Food Pantry each month
• Information about educational activities
• Learning about political issues
