Signing In

Question: Must employees sign in and out?

Answer: It is reasonable to have employees sign in and sign out to know who is at work and on the premises. According to Administration Officials, this is "highly recommended, but not mandated." So, if schools are establishing, for the first time, a sign in process, it should be done in such a way to make it as simple and easy as possible, perhaps using technology. It's silly to have people sign out at the end of the day.

Dress Code

There is no dress code for teachers. Teachers and support staff should
dress professionally and appropriately for the work they are doing and
the environment in which they teach. Obviously, how one looks is how
they are perceived by students, parents, and colleagues.

Education Abbreviations

Educational abbreviations are like alphabet soup. Here are the acronyms and what they stand for.

Troublesome Six

These are areas where most awful cases begin, please be cautious.

In the little pocket calendar we give ALL our members, in the back we have the page called “Troublesome Six.” Everyone should be reminded of some topics that the District and the Office of Professional Standards takes seriously. They often determine whether a teacher will continue teaching. PCTA leaders want to make sure that you do!

Sex:
Avoid any sexual situations or discussions about sex with students.
