GR Minutes January 8, 2007

WELCOME

Chair Kim Black thanked all in attendance, this first day back, after Winter Break. A welcome was extended to PCTA Board members Joan Procida and Bud Leverone. Kim also welcomed Michael Monroe, FEA’s Public Policy Advocacy Department representative.

The main topics of the presentation included:  Universal PreK, Small Class Sizes, Time to Teach, School Employees, Earning a Living Wage, Improved Retirement Benefits.  For a copy of the presentation, contact LaToya.

School Board Contact Teams

O’Shea contact meeting will be January 9, 4:45pm at the PCTA/PESPABuilding, under the leadership of Kim Black.

Gallucci contact team meeting is scheduled for January 10, 4:45 pm at the PCTA/PESPA building, under the leadership of Kim Black.

Cook contact meeting is scheduled for January 17, 4:45pm at the School Board Office, under the leadership of Carolyn Lofton.

Clark contact meeting is scheduled for January 19, 4:45pm at John Hopkins MS, under the leadership of Stu Wilmarth.

Grrrr Award

The Grrr Award (a pedometer) was awarded to Linda Trombetta.  The pedometer will help her keep track of the miles she’ll rack up on her first trip to Tallahassee this year!

Announcements & Open Agenda

Michelle Dennard PCTA/PESPA inspirationally invited members to walk in the MLK parade – Monday January 15.  If you are interested in participating, meet at Tropicana Field, staging area at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, 1/15.  All participants will receive a free T-Shirt.  Water and snacks will also be provided!

January 19th, Lobby travel forms due (to LaToya), late applications cannot be accepted.
