Items Discussed:   Reviewed our way of work

Bill Corbett presented notes from the instructional transfer sub committee meeting. EWS accepted through consensus the recommendations and will forward to BLT.

Marilyn Lusher explained the prior support transfer process and provided data on the 2008/09 placements. The projected affected employees for 09/10 will be greater than 170 support professionals. PSC instituted a hiring freeze before the holiday break anticipating transfer slots. Ms. Lusher suggested that worksites compile detailed information on open support positions, employees prepare updated resumes and PCS consider a job fair event to better match the employee to the best work site.

Group concerns included the use of seniority in regards to department and  job classification. Examples of this included the elimination of Maintenance  Tech positions and some clerical staff last term. Matters about “bumping”, downgrades, and time frames for decisions were voiced. A support transfer sub committee was formed to review recommendations and offer an action plan for EWS. The Committee has representation from most stakeholders. (Admin, SEIU, PESPA, PCTA) and will report back at the EWS February meeting. 

Leadership requested prioritizing contract language issues. Each employee group is still in process of reviewing drafted language with PCS. EWS members suggested the following issues for discussion:

1. Compensation Time
2. Contact Time (300 minutes)
3. Downgrade and Upgrade formula equity
4. School Board accountability for violations of contracts
5. Hiring of Coaches
