Bargaining Update 8.18.11

The Bargaining Leadership Team met today, August 18, at the request of the District in anticipation of the final budget close-out and for the District to bring a proposal to the table. A Final Fund Balance Summary was presented from the Finance Department (see attached). The total effect of changes by the finance department resulted in the district’s ending fund balance increasing from 85.9 million to 92.9 million, an additional recovery of 7.0 million.

6.23.11 Update on Pension Lawsuit

As you know, the Florida Education Association filed a lawsuit Monday morning in the Circuit Court in Tallahassee seeking to stop the 3 percent pay cut on teachers, school employees and other workers imposed by the Florida Legislature and signed by Gov. Rick Scott.

Bargaining Update 6.16.11

The Bargaining Leadership Team met today in regularly scheduled negotiations. There was an update on Annual Contract placements, the Involuntary Transfer Placement Fair and the recently agreed upon guidelines for voluntary transfers. The primary business item was the health insurance package. As part of a cost savings measure due to proposed budget cuts, the district is proposing a change in the current 80%/20% health insurance split. Currently, the Board on average pays approximately 80% of the health insurance premiums and employees pay 20%.
 

Bargaining Update 6.1.11

The Bargaining Leadership Team met yesterday in a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss committee reports and issues related to bargaining for the 2011-12 school year. The Bargaining Leadership Team includes the four bargaining units in the District plus representatives from the District and the administrator’s association.
